Gasketed P&F heat exchangers consist of a set of heating plates, separated by gaskets, all held together by a bolted frame.

This frame can be taken apart, and the plates/gaskets removed. Each heating plate is stacked against others, with gaskets in between, to create a plate pack, which is then kept in place by the frame. Plates consist specially formed chevrons which after precise plate-to-plate alignment form matrix of channels. Two fluids travel through the channels on opposite side of each plate exchanging heat.
